Blower Hose & Valve
Benefits:
The Blower Hose & Valve is a key component of the Trash Can Hopper™ Pressure Washer Blast System. The blower hose connects the media carburetor to the vacuum/blower. There are many manufacturers of vacuum/blowers such as shopvac, Rigid, and more. Most operate as both a vacuum and a blower. It is the blower that is most usefull to the Trash Can Hopper because it is the output of air created by the blower that will drive the media carburetor and push the air into the sand stake. There are usually two holes on the shopvac canister. Insert the hose into the blower hole. Then attach the rubber fitting onto the end of the hose. A ½” air hose is then inserted into the rubber fitting. It is important to utilize an in-line air valve in order to regulate the amount of air being output by the shopvac.
NOTE: It is often necessary to secure the rubber fitting onto the blower hose. Drilling through the hose and fitting and inserting a pin or wire will reduce the chance of the fitting being blown off when more air pressure is needed to accommodate heavier, more aggressive medias such as MaxxStrip PT2.
Although vacuum/blowers have standardized their hoses, there are several different sizes of hoses that will fit. The Blower Hose & Valve is designed to accommodate standard vacuum blowers. Two rubber fittings are included in the kit that connect to the following hose sizes:
- 1 ¼”
- 1 7/8”
- 1 ½”
- 2 ½”
Regulating the air:
The key to the successful operation of the Trash Can Hopper is the amount of air being delivered to the media carburetor. Regulating with too much air creates a jet stream that passes too quickly into the sand stake which bypasses the media. The result it too much air and too little media. In this case, the air jet stream forces the media away from the inlet tube. When insufficient air flow is delivered to the media carburetor, the venturi is left alone to lift the media out of the bucket. If the pressure washer is under powered, or the media hose is too long (additional friction) then the media will not be lifted from the bucket because of the lack of suction. In this case, media carburetor is not assisting the venturi.
Types of media and air flow:
Media types vary. More aggressive medias are generally heavier and are more difficult to move through the hose. For more aggressive medias such as MaxxStrip PT2, more blower air will be needed. For lighter media, less air will be needed.

- (1) brass valve
How it works:
The media funnel™ and media carburetor™ work together to create a strong push – pull suction on the media which is lifted out of the trash can hopper™ and into the media hose where it is mixed with the pressure washer’s jet stream. The venturi driven brass lance attachment pulls the media from the bucket while the ShopVac blower drives air into the media carburetor. The result is an air / media mixture that is blown up and into the sand stake and media hose. This push –pull suction creates a powerful, smooth, and controllable flow of media into the pressure washer’s jet stream allowing the user to clean, strip, and degrease pool tile, fountains, concrete, stone, and other surfaces.
